Do you provide child seats?
For health and safety reasons Haslemere Alpha Taxis
cannot supply or fit children’s car seats in any vehicle. UK law permits children to travel unrestrained in licensed taxis and private hire vehicles: children under 3 can travel with an Parent/Carer in the back seat without a car seat or seat belt. Children 3 years or older can travel without a car seat but they must wear an adult seat-belt. Passengers are welcome to supply their own car seats if preferred. Responsibility for fitting the child seat into the vehicle is that of the Parent/Carer!

Do multi-seaters cost extra?
Yes, if you request one of our 5 and 6 seaters on all out of town bookings and airport transfers they will be quoted at a higher rate than our standard pricing and for around  the town the multi-seaters price when requested would be charged as per Taxi / hackney carriage fare scale at the meter fare plus an additional charge added at the end of the journey, this pricing is to allow for the extra passengers. Of course if a multi seater arrives on a standard booking the standard meter fare or quoted price would apply!

I think I’ve left my bag or another item in the taxi. What shall I do?
We
do not hold any lost property at the Haslemere Alpha Taxi Office! We do keep records for our pre-booked jobs so will endeavour to contact the driver of your journey and ask them if they have found your lost item/s and then arrange there return to you. Any unclaimed lost property found will be handed into Waverley Council Offices within 48 hours where it will be held by the Licensing Office.
If you picked up a Hackney Carriage from a rank that is not pre-booked we are unable to assist with any lost property items, as these journeys are independent of Haslemere Alpha Taxis so no record is taken. Hackney Carriage Drivers are asked by Waverley Borough Council to hand any lost property they find in their vehicles into Waverley Borough Council within 48hrs of there discovery.

Can I carry pets in one of your vehicles?
Guides dogs cannot be refused in our taxi. However, regrettably, all other animals are not allowed.

How much will my Taxi cost?
This depends very much on where you are going and the type of vehicle you have chosen or require.
All journeys take within Haslemere will be charged a per the displayed metered fare where as any journey going out of the Town will be given a fixed price at the time you book.

How do I pay for the service?
In most cases the drivers take cash as a payment for your journey. Some of our drivers may also have their credit card machines in their vehicles or alternatively our office will happily accept and process your credit/card as payment for your journey.
Important - please be aware that their is a 5% administration and handling fee applied for credit/debit card use.
If you have booked through a company or personal account then no payment is required to the driver, you or your company will be invoiced for the journey cost.
Please ensure you have a sufficient payment method before booking your Taxi. Deliberate none payment of a Taxi fare is a criminal offence under Section 3 Theft Act 1978.

What happens if my cab doesn’t arrive on time?
Always remember that at peak times such as rush hour, Friday and Saturday nights or during bad weather we are always busier than normal. This can sometimes result in job pick-up times slipping behind! If you are worried that your taxis is not coming please call our office on 07908 55 66 22 for an update on your vehicle.

Should I leave a tip for the driver?
Tipping one of our drivers is optional. Our drivers will always do their best to give you the best possible service, so if you think they deserve a tip then please feel free to do so.

How Are Your Drivers Licensed?
Our drivers are licensed with a Waverley Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing which requires them to have held a UK driving license for a minimum of 2 year, to have taken an additional DSA Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Assessment Driving test, pass a Group 2 standard medical with own GP and complete an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.  Further to this, pass a knowledge test about key roads and landmarks in the local area.
